Katabata project
Set up by researchers from the University of Liège, this project aims to measure, for the first time, the katabatic winds potential in the south of the Groeland in order to be able to set up large wind farms there.
Set up by researchers from the University of Liège, this project aims to measure, for the first time, the katabatic winds potential in the south of the Groeland in order to be able to set up large wind farms there.
This has been demonstrated by a new study in which many researchers from the ULiège Laboratory of Climatology participated and which used the MAR climate model.
The three stations installed in South Greenland send out wind data every 15 minutes from South Greenland.
The first data transmitted by the stations tend to confirm the intuition of the ULiège researchers ... impressive winds !
Set up by Damien Ernst and Xavier Fettweis both researchers at ULiège, the Katabata project aims to collect important data to establish a project for the implementation of a wind farm in the southern region of Greenland.
